Course Objectives:

To strengthen the capacity of participants in key concepts of Knowledge Management and MIS System Development Structures and Strategies.

This objective aims to equip participants with a comprehensive understanding of both Knowledge Management and Management Information Systems (MIS) development. Through this training, participants will gain proficiency in essential concepts, strategies, and structures pertaining to both fields. They will develop the skills necessary to effectively manage knowledge within their organizations and implement MIS systems that align with organizational goals and objectives. Ultimately, participants will be better equipped to contribute to the strategic decision-making processes and enhance organizational performance through efficient knowledge management and MIS development.

Day 1: Fundamentals of Knowledge Management 

  • Understand the fundamentals and key concepts of knowledge management
  • How to make a case for knowledge management
  • How to make a case for knowledge management Fundamentals
  • Explore the role of KM in an organisation
  • Identify where KM is situated in your organisation
  • Establish a framework and components for developing your knowledge management strategy throughout the course.
  • Understand the cultural and behavioural elements of knowledge management
  • Develop Knowledge Management Structure for MIS
  • Deploy and Test Knowledge Information Management MIS System of NGOs Programmes.
  • Explore how to develop a conducive environment for knowledge sharing and overcoming challenges

Day 2  Learning and Development of MIS System

  • Learn how to make the best use of organisational assessments. Understanding context and taking stock examine supply and demand for knowledge
  • Capture and generate meaningful lessons learned
  • Recognise and maximise learning opportunities in the project cycle
  • Pool good practice examples. Actively learning from feedback loops
  • Explore and apply knowledge sharing techniques and processes
  • How to use Kobo Tool
  • How to connect Kobo with Android Mobiles
  • How to develop a strategy and what are the key steps
  • Identify and work with knowledge champions. Pure KM tools and supporting practices
  • Validate components of your KM strategy with peer support
  • Develop steps for a knowledge management strategy

Resource Person Profile:

Waqqas Ali, Senior Knowledge Management and Result-based Monitoring and Evaluation Expert, Team Leader

Waqqas has more than 18 years of international experience from Europe, Africa and Asia for Islamic Relief, UNDP, WFP, OCHA, Care International, Welthungerhilfe and Cesvi INGOs. He has developed Knowledge management systems of UN agencies and international NGOs and governments inclusing institutes.

He has extensive experience in ICT and Project Development and as a trainer sharing a wide variety of key concepts on Knowledge Management and learning systems, training managers and employees in ministries, municipalities, universities, international NGOs and the private sector in project management, participatory planning and monitoring, Theory of Change, Logical Framework on RBM approach, stakeholder analysis, RBM as a concept etc. Additionally, he is part of the Humanitarian Development Academy UK  as a trainer and course coordinator. Since 2017, he has served as a consultant for the International Institute of Peace and Development Studies Bangkok, Thailand for International trainings on Knowledge Management and Result Based Management Monitoring & Evaluation.
