Harmony in Action Workshop (May 18th – 20th, 2024)

In the world where diversity is increasingly celebrated, it’s vital to foster understanding and cooperation among people of different faiths. Harmony in Action workshop provide a platform for young individuals to engage in meaningful dialogue, explore commonalities, and appreciate differences within various religious traditions. These workshops aim to cultivate empathy, respect, and cooperation among participants, ultimately contributing to a more harmonious and inclusive society.
Youths have been always front line fighters for change. Today’s youths are many ways deprived from opportunities and support. In order to see a peaceful, harmonious and prosperous world, youth can play very important and positive role.
International Institute of Peace and Development Studies (IIPDS) in cooperation with The United Church of Canada (UCC) – ARF – AMAN has been organizing Interfaith Related Workshops in South, South East Asia, and the Middle East since several years ago.

Target Group
Young leaders, scholars, teachers, post graduate students, NGO and social workers, and anyone else with a keen interest in approaching peace building creatively
Course Aim
The aim of this workshop is to promote mutual understanding, respect, and collaboration among participants from diverse religious backgrounds. By facilitating open dialogue and experiential learning activities, the workshop seeks to foster empathy, dispel stereotypes, and cultivate a culture of peaceful coexistence.

Date: 18th – 20th May, 2024
Venue: International Institute of Peace and Development Studies (IIPDS)
Suwintawaong Soi 51, T. Kratumrai, Nong Chok, Bangkok
The Training Center in Nong Chok is 35 kms from central Bangkok in a rural residential setting with simple, basic accommodation. Participants will stay in comfortable rooms with 2-4 people sharing one room. Each room has an attached Bathroom and an Air conditioner as well.
Goal
The primary goal of the workshop is to empower young individuals to understand the harmony and cooperate in their communities. Through interactive sessions and reflective exercises, participants will develop the skills and attitudes necessary to engage constructively with people of different faiths and contribute to building bridges across religious/ ethnical/ nation divides.
Cost
Course Registration Fee: FREE of Charge
IIPDS do not provide participants airfare, travel, and visa expenses. Successful participants are responsible for their travels and visa expenses.
Accommodation and foods are covered by IIPDS during the workshop training.
Objectives
- To develop critical awareness about realities and challenges, religions, traditions, and cultures and engage in social actions for peace, justice, and development
- To facilitate collective learning process about understanding of the causes of conflict, ways and means to transform conflict and build sustainable peace
- To strengthen the creation of supportive networks and lasting friendships among participants from diverse backgrounds
- To encourage open and respectful dialogue among participants to facilitate the exchange of perspectives and experiences.
Participants
20 youths who are engaged in rights, gender, peace and development works across the globe
Criteria
- Below 35 year of age
- Socially engaged in rights, gender, peace and development works
- Good command on English
- Possess a leadership quality and potential to become a trainer
- Applicant will continue to work for community Activity after graduation from this course
