AMANA Magazine – Call for Articles

AMAN and ARF are launching a call for articles for the upcoming issue of AMANA Magazine.

The theme selected for the issue is “WITH COVID 2020-2021: Stories of Struggle and Resilience from Around the World”.

The years 2020 and 2021 carried an extraordinary shock to the entire planet. The COVID-19 pandemic has had major and different effects, both immediate and backhanded, in different parts of the world and on different kinds of people and communities. One of the basic circuitous effects has been the extreme widening of the gap between the haves and have not and it unravelled and magnified systemic inequalities against vulnerable groups. Amidst the devastation the pandemic unleashed upon each and every one of us, the stories of people and communities’ resilience and fight for change have often been lost and buried in grief.

AMAN and ARF want to hear these stories narrated by the very people that are living them and, for those who don’t have a voice, narrated by those who know them best.

We are calling on all of you, scholars, social workers, doctors, nurses, housewives/husbands, teachers, migrant workers, peacebuilders, community and religious leaders to contribute to the next issue of AMANA Magazine with an article, essay, poem or photograph that portrays your COVID-19 story or that of someone or a community you represent. This is a prerequisite to learning the facts and figures with the grassroots realities.

Theme: COVID-19 related (health, education, personal or community stories, inequality, the role of peacebuilders and religious, community leaders in the fight against the pandemic … etc.)

Format:

  • Article (2 pages)
  • Short Essay (½ to 1 page)
  • Poem (½ to 1 page)
  • Original Picture (with description included)
