SUMMARY:AMAN RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME 2022
DESCRIPTION:Views from Within Asian Minorities \nYoung Scholars and Social Workers Promoting Interfaith and Interethnic Understanding for Peace \n  \nFreedom to practice culture and religion in Asia is constantly threatened by identity politics\, cultural marginalization and socio-economic and political exclusion. Persistent process-induced prejudices\, stereotypes\, religious nationalism and subsequently social polarization between minority and majority groups further pushed minorities’ ethnoreligious identities to the margins of society.\nIn order to achieve a realistic view from within these minorities\, AMAN is launching the first edition of the Research Fellowship Programme “Views from Within Asian Minorities”\, open to young scholars and social workers belonging to ethnic and/or religious minorities from South and Southeast Asia. \n  \nFellowships will be awarded for innovative field research that: \n\nContribute to a deeper analysis of different and common economic\, socio-political and cultural drivers of inequality and exclusion of religious and ethnic minorities in Asia.\nPromote understanding of the liberating aspects of respective religions and cultural beliefs.\nExplore methods\, coping mechanisms\, best practices and dialogue with the majorities towards a peaceful and harmonious coexistence.\n\nThe fellowship programme will include online workshops and consultations where the fellows will be mentored and guided in their field and desk research by the advisory team\, formed by senior scholars and experienced social workers.\nThe selected candidates will be invited to analyse key constraints and explore solutions for peace in their own minority community through a preliminary desk review\, field research\, and community consultations planned by them\, in order to obtain an insight into the internal and external challenges each community face.\nThe research papers and proceedings of the consultations will be published in a volume that will serve as a resource and knowledge base for other scholars\, social workers and institutions\, and will inform cohesive actions toward the promotion of a deeper understanding of ethnic and religious minorities’ issues in South and Southeast Asia. \n  \nEligibility \n\nCandidates must be nationals of a South or Southeast Asian country aged between 20 and 35.\nCandidates must belong to an ethnic and/or religious minority in the country of their nationality.\nCandidates must have minimum experience and engagement in social work or research.\nA good level of English knowledge (both written and spoken) is required.\n\n  \nFellowship Value \nThe fellowship consists of an average research grant of 400 USD\, covering research expenses like transportation to the research field etc. \n  \nApplication Procedure \nCandidates must submit the filled application form to the email address: aman.int1990@gmail.com \n  \nDeadline of application    \nAPRIL 03\, 2022 \n  \nApplication Form \n  \n
